TROPICAL ‘MEXICAN BUTTERWORTS’ CARE SHEET
PINGUICULA: AGNATA // EHLERISIAA X MESOPHYTICA // EL LOBO //MORANESIS VAR. CUADATA // PIROUETTE
WATER: DO NOT USE TAP WATER. It will kill the plant. Use reverse osmosis, distilled or rainwater. A gallon will last nearly a month for one tray depending on where you keep the plant and temperature (evaporation rate). Recommended for overhead watering in summer and fall. Keep winter soils just slightly damp.
SOIL: Recommended equal parts sand, perlite, and lava rock/or pumice, plus one part peat.
LIGHT: Partly sunny or very bright light. They can be outdoors or on porches during the warmer months.
DORMANCY: No dormancy.
FERTILIZER: Tropical Butterworts can benefit from an orchid fertilizer, sprayed only on the leaves; avoid a heavy sprinkle, which allows too much to get into the soil. Avoid acidic fertilizers and avoid spraying the flowers.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
Tropical Butterworts can be on a bright sunny window.
